Leon T. Goodman has worked with 50BOLD.com for nearly four years now as primarily an entertainment writer. He recently passed away suddenly, a couple of weeks after turning 70. Good people die every day. Yet not all of them affirm for us the goodness in humanity and leadership the way Leon did.
Leon tailored his life to live it to the fullest. He never wasted one minute. Productivity was always the order of the day even in retirement. We will always remember Leon’s amazing walk that he did to shed light on the Black Lives Matter movement. At age 69, rather than join the surge of large-scale, anti-police brutality protests of recent times, Leon decided to address the injustices by spanning the entire length of Long Island, New York, 118 miles, by walking in silent protest.
Leon lived his life to the fullest and completed whatever it was he came here to do. He would not want those he left behind to be grief-stricken. Leon would want us all to live our lives to the fullest and to follow our dreams as he did.
The man with the brightest smile and most infectious laughter is an ancestor now. And although Leon is no longer with us, he will remain in our hearts. It seems trite to say that Leon will be missed, or that he went away too soon, but it’s true.
Highly favored and blessed during most of his life, we are sure that when Leon meets his maker, he will be told, “Well done!”
We love you Leon T. Goodman; you will be sorely missed by your 50BOLD.com family.
We send our condolences to Leon’s three children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and to his partner, Valerie Price Ervin, who rode with him until the wheels fell off….
